Even with the to go service, perfect and delicious food is still offered. The spelled spaetzle are a hit! The cordon bleu is one of the most delicious I've ever eaten.

The food and service in the Sagittarius are unique! My family and I love to eat there. No matter whether meat (and I know my way around meat;)), salad or vegetables - everything tastes super delicious and fresh. An absolute top address in Donaueschingen.
An absolute insolence the service 13h32 I wanted to eat and was rejected. 2 minutes later 4 people sit and are served. Just a cheek I never go back no matter how the food tastes.

Very nice restaurant with amazing food. The location is good as it is in the city centre, but still in the area where you can park your car for free (for a limited time). We just arrived 15 minutes before the kitchen was closing, but there was no problem; they cooked for us :) Food was very tasty, good quality, enough for everybody.
The restaurant is just a few minutes' walk from Donaueschingen train station. The castle and the source of the Danube are in the immediate vicinity. The reception by the boss is very friendly and personal. The ambience is very appealing, stylish and pleasant. Every little thing is right. The food is of exquisite quality, everything is beautifully presented, a feast for the palate and eyes. Reservation is recommended.

Unfortunately a total flop extremely long waiting times (40 minutes until the drinks came, 1 hour 20 minutes until the first dish came) The food also came with a time delay so that you could not eat together. Three dishes declined almost completely as they were practically inedible (no reaction from the restaurant) Special requests such as 'Sauce extra' were ignored. Very unfriendly, completely overwhelmed operation And all this at juicy prices for small portions. You don't have to do that to yourself.
If you don't like everyday cuisine with excellent craftsmanship, then Schützen in Donaueschingen is the right address. Clemens Baader repeatedly applies his motto “fine pub cuisine”. An example of this is the one I photographed and enjoyed with every bite “Filled quail terrine on apricot chutney with mushroom and cherry tomato salad, butter brioche” for just € 13.50. This is also an excellent price-performance ratio, given the generous portion. Terrines in this quality league are, to my knowledge, rare. For this reason alone, Donaueschingen is worth a visit. When I asked about other addresses for such delicious terrines and pies in our region, I have received zero answers so far. So I was back in Sagittarius. I treated myself to a rind - from the pulpo (see further picture). Really fine and tender. A completely different league than the widespread boring squid rings under a greasy breading. The attached picture of the onion roast by Clemens Baader (24.50 euros) shows a subtle difference at first glance: Plenty of onions cooked to perfection and not burnt, as unfortunately common in many places. Medium ordered - medium delivered. The vegetables were also professionally cooked as they should be: not too soft, not too hard. My personal recommendation for thrifty connoisseurs: 1. Taste the terrine shown for two. 2. Follow this with a high-quality brewery flatbread (tarte flambée) from Clemens Baader and ask for an extra plate for easy sharing. Then every bite is really crunchy. 3. In the end, invest the money saved in 2 desserts. There is a tempting selection at the Schützen in Donaueschingen at prices of less than 7 euros.
It was our first time here, very friendly service. The salad freshly varied in a very tasty salad sauce. Goulash with vegetables and homemade spaetzle very fine. Great value for a lunch table, keep it up! Would love to come back when we are nearby.
